What is Reiki?
The word Reiki (often pronounced as ray-key) is a Japanese word that means "Universal Life Force Energy". It isn't a replacement for traditional medical treatment; it is used in conjunction with standard medical treatments. It is a form of energy healing that can be used for yourself, for others (either in person or over distance), plants, animals, rooms, crystals, and other objects. It helps you to increase the level of "chi" (energy) in your body and in your environment. A Reiki Practitioner has been attuned (empowered) by a Reiki Master to channel this energy.
There are three levels of Usui Reiki; level 1 where you learn the history of Reiki and how to heal yourself, level 2 where you learn to heal over distance and where you learn the first 3 symbols, and level 3 where you are attuned to the master symbol and a higher frequency of this energy. At Level 3, you can also teach and attune others.
At all levels, Reiki teaches to honor yourself and others in everything you say, think and do:
Just for today, I will live my life with integrity...
Just for today, I shall gratefully receive...
Just for today, I will live my own truth...
Just for today, I will honor each person to have their own truth.
Reiki is not a religion and requires no doctrine or specific belief in a supreme being or even in Reiki itself to work. It is the most elegant form of healing I have ever found and it's the only form of healing I have found in my lifetime that works each and every time. Reiki is thought by some to be God's love in it's purest form. For others, it is simply the all-pervading universal energy that is the "stuff" from which everything and all manifests from. It is completely unconditional. Reiki is compassion in the Divine sense. It demands nothing of the sender and nothing of the receiver.
